Chandigarh electrical department are not allowed to strike.

 For the next six months, employees of the Chandigarh electrical department are not allowed to strike. The Union Territory administration's official notice came hours after some parts of Chandigarh had massive power disruptions beginning this morning.Even while workers continue to protest, Chandigarh has enacted the Essential Services Maintenance Act, or ESMA.

“In exercise of powers conferred by Sub-section 3 of the East Punjab Essential Services (Maintenance) Act, 1968, the Administrator, UT Chandigarh hereby prohibits strikes in the employment of Engineering Department (Electricity Wing), UT, Chandigarh by any of their employees for a period of six months with immediate effect,” the order copy said.

"पूर्वी पंजाब आवश्यक सेवा (रखरखाव) अधिनियम, 1968 की उप-धारा 3 द्वारा प्रदत्त शक्तियों का प्रयोग करते हुए, प्रशासक, यूटी चंडीगढ़ एतद्द्वारा इंजीनियरिंग विभाग (इलेक्ट्रिसिटी विंग), यूटी, चंडीगढ़ के किसी भी कर्मचारी द्वारा हड़ताल पर रोक लगाता है। कर्मचारियों को तत्काल प्रभाव से छह महीने की अवधि के लिए, ”आदेश की प्रति में कहा गया है।
