 In an unprecedented move, India and Sri Lanka on Thursday negotiated $1 billion in line of credit, allowing Colombo to buy food, medicines and other vital items to help it overcome its dire economic crisis.

  Sri Lanka's Finance Minister, Basil Rajapaksa, was present to sign the deal for a $1 billion short-term concessional credit facility provided by India to the Government of Sri Lanka through the State Bank of India.
