 हिंदू दत्तक और भरण-पोषण अधिनियम, 1956 के अनुसार एकल माता-पिता भी बच्चे को गोद ले सकते हैं।
अदालत ने 9 फरवरी को एक ट्रांसजेंडर महिला रीना किन्नर और उसके साथी द्वारा लाए गए एक रिट मामले की सुनवाई करते हुए यह टिप्पणी की। इलाहाबाद उच्च न्यायालय के अनुसार, एक बच्चे को गोद लेने के लिए विवाह प्रमाण पत्र की आवश्यकता नहीं है।
Single parents can also adopt a child as per the Hindu Adoption and Maintenance Act, 1956.The court made the observation on February 9 while hearing a writ case brought by a transgender woman Reena Kinnar and her accomplice. According to the Allahabad High Court, a marriage certificate is not required for adoption of a child.
